Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy 2012-09-17

Solar Energy is a kind of new energy, which has drawn much attention from countries all around the world.

Brief introduction to the Solar Energy

With the development of science and technology and the deepening of the environment protection concept, Solar Energy is no unfamiliar to most people, for example the Solar Energy water heaters are widely used and quite popular among consumers. As to the classification of the Solar Energy, it includes Solar Energy PV and Solar Energy thermal. The former is produced by the Solar Energy PV Power Generation System. While material matters to the later one to a large extent.

The advantages of the Solar Energy

First of all, the raw material of Solar Energy is available almost everywhere. It is known to all that sunshine is everywhere, with no need to transport or store it, thus the cost of Solar Energy production can be reduced in terms of raw material. As long as you have necessary equipment prepared, then you can utilize and develop the Solar Energy.

Secondly, the Solar Energy is not harmful to the environment. It is called as “green energy”. In the process of developing the Solar Energy, there are no harmful substances given off into the environment. That is catering to the green environment protecting concept.

Thirdly, the Solar Energy has longer serving life than that of coal, because the Solar Energy is recycled resource, while the later one is not, which will be used up sooner or later, and pollutes our environment at the same time. Solar Energy on earth is limitless. Therefore, it is beneficial to developing the solar energy in the long run.

The disadvantages of the Solar Energy

First of all, thought there is limitless Solar Energy resource, the sunshine is disperse, which is not convenient to collect it with high efficiency. In addition, the intensity of sunshine is various from place to place, thus its development is confined by the local sunshine condition.

Secondly, since the sunshine is prone to be affected by the weather, such as clouds, rains and so on, the efficiency of producing the Solar Energy is various and unstable. That is almost can not be controlled by workers in generally.

Thirdly, the production scale of the Solar Energy is not that large as expected though the Solar Energy technology and external conditions have become rather mature. At current stage, the working efficiency of the Solar Energy device is still low, which need to be further developed.

In a word, though the Solar Energy has many striking merits, there is still a long way to go before its wide application with high efficiency.
